Drills for Fun
Coaches may reference our For Fun page under the Parents section of this website. Here we have placed several fun drills that engage the players and help to develop skills. In teaching these drills to your players, you also enable them to play outside the team practice environment.
Tee Ball Resources:
TEE BALL (Pre-k to Kindergarten) – Tee Ball is the introductory level of play in BNBSL. Coaches work with players to develop basic throwing, catching, and hitting skills. The goal is to have fun so the children enjoy the introduction to baseball with their family and friends. Coaches are typically parent volunteers. While coaching experience is desirable, there is no requirement for the coach to have a deep knowledge of the game or years of coaching experience. We do need a volunteer coach who can make the experience fun and teach the game fundamentals.

Single A (Coach Pitch) Resources:
Typically for 1st graders, SINGLE A is a coach-pitched level of play for beginning players in first or second grade. Basic skills such as throwing, catching, and batting stance are taught. Games are played only against other Byfield-Newbury teams, and scores are not recorded. An emphasis on having fun and learning the game is promoted at this level. Players have no specific skill requirements at this level, but basic catching, throwing, and batting skills are desired. Players should be comfortable with an adult pitching to them. Completing at least one year in the Tee Ball program is highly recommended but not required.
